Marketing Outreach Coordinator

Purpose: The primary function of the Marketing Outreach Coordinator is to promote Camp Gallagher's summer camping program to middle school and high school students through targeted community outreach around the greater Puget Sound region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Help develop marketing outreach strategy, test new tactics, and evaluate and adapt based on results.
• Work with Camp Gallagher's Program Director and marketing agency in the development of any necessary print materials (posters, brochures, etc.) that will help Camp Gallagher advertise with local schools. This includes researching the specific requirements (disclaimers, deadlines, etc.) for each school / district.
• Identify coffee shops and other local businesses with community bulletin boards that allow posters/flyers, then distribute the print materials at those locations.
• Serve as a spokesperson for Camp Gallagher when reaching out to schools and other organizations, answering questions and representing Gallagher with enthusiasm.
• Attend 2 to 5 camp fairs (arranged by Gallagher's Program Director), discussing the benefits of Gallagher's camping programs with interested members of the public.

Required qualifications and skills:
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must have the ability to work independently and with others to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision.
• Must believe in Camp Gallagher's mission and work efficiently to get the word out to as many potential campers as possible.

Lodge Leader

Purpose: Lodge leaders are the primary caregivers for each camper. The Lodge Leader is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills.

Responsibilities:
• Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their living unit, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
• Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff.
• Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be certified (or become certified) in First Aid/CPR.
• Must submit health history record and examination form prior to first day of work.
• Must have the ability to interact with all age levels.
• Understand the development needs of youth.
• Must have the ability to relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.
• Must demonstrate knowledge and skill in program areas designated camp program areas.

Expedition Leader

Purpose: To further the mission of the camp through the development and delivery of tripping activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. Assist in the management to the physical operation of the tripping program and related equipment.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and deliver a tripping program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers
• Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their tripping group, within activities and throughout the camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes.
• Ensure that camp staff and campers follow established safety guidelines
• Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the tripping area

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Current certification in lifeguard training or equivalent.
• Current certification in tripping instruction or documented training and experience.
• Must be certified (or become certified) in First Aid/CPR.
• Training and experience in teaching tripping skills to children.
• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors in varied conditions.
• Skills in outdoor program design particular to the type of tripping and camping activities assigned to the unit.
• Previous experience leading wilderness trips and/or student experience with NOLS, Outward Bound, or similar programs.

Environmental Education Specialist

Purpose: To further the mission of the camp through the development and delivery of nature or environmental activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities and reflect the camp’s commitment to stewardship of the natural environment.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and deliver a nature or environmental program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers and utilizes the camp’s natural environment.
• Expand campers' knowledge of both land and sea (including: tides, currents, and wildlife species found on the Gallagher waterfront).
• Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures.
• Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the nature or environmental program area.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Documented experience in nature or environmental instruction or documented training and experience.
• Must be certified (or become certified) in First Aid/CPR.
• Training and experience in teaching nature or environmental studies to children.
• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors in varied conditions.
• Knowledge of natural history, biology, ecology, and related fields. • Experience with care and maintenance of natural displays and exhibits.

Waterfront Specialist

Purpose: To further the mission of the camp by providing supervision and ensuring a safe environment at the camp’s waterfront activities. Assist in the management to the physical operation of the waterfront facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities:
• Supervise and guard all waterfront activities.
• Assist waterfront instructional staff in program areas such as swimming and boating.
• Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the waterfront program area.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Current certification in lifeguard training or equivalent.
• Current certification in swim instruction or related experience.
• Must be certified (or become certified) in First Aid/CPR.
• Prior experience at a waterfront similar to the camp.
• Training and experience in waterfront activities that are offered at the camp.
• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors in the water.
• Knowledge and prior use of a powerboat as used for water rescues.

Purpose: To further the mission of the camp through assisting in the planning of boating activities at the camp’s waterfront. Deliver boating activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. Assist in the management to the physical operation of the boating facilities and equipment.

• Deliver a skill-based, fun boating program to campers.

Crafts Specialist

Mountain Biking Program Director

Purpose: To further the mission of the camp through the development and delivery of a bicycling program that is safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. Assist in the care and maintenance of the bicycles and related equipment.

Assistant Cook

Purpose: To assist the Head Cook in providing nutritious, well-prepared meals, which are served to all campers, staff, and guests.

Responsibilities:
• Assist in the daily operations of the camp’s food service.
• Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment.
• Work as a member of a food service team.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Experience in institutional or food service setting.
• Desire to work in the food service area.
• Knowledge of standards of food preparation and serving, storage of food, and kitchen procedures.

Head Cook

Purpose: The Head Cook directs the overall food-service operation of the camp including purchasing, preparation, nutrition, service, sanitation, security, personnel management, customer service, and record keeping.

Responsibilities:
• Manage the daily operations of the camp food and dining service including coordinating activities between the kitchen and dining room.
• Oversee the inventory and ordering of food, equipment, and supplies and arrange for the routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of the camp kitchen, its equipment, and facilities.
• Manage all administrative and human-resource functions with regard to kitchen and dining room employees.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Experience in institutional or large food service setting.
• Knowledge of and experience in food service: ordering, inventory, budgeting, food preparation, family-style serving, buffet serving, cleaning, and institutional kitchen equipment.
• Food Handler’s Permit.
• Ability to work within a budget and purchase supplies efficiently
• Experience in supervision.
• Knowledge of current health and safety laws and practices is essential.
• Knowledge of and experience in preparation of special dietary foods.

Nurse / Health Care Manager

Purpose: The Health Care Manager is responsible for overseeing the health and safety of campers and staff.

Responsibilities:
• Provide health care to meet individual needs of camp staff and campers.
• Organize, maintain, and utilize adequate resources for serving the health and medical needs of the campers and staff.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records according to state and American Camp Association Standards.
• Oversee First Aid procedures and supplies.
• Ensure a staff orientation session is delivered on medical services.
• Screen all campers and staff who are arriving and departing camp.
• Supervise sanitary conditions throughout camp.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Registered nurse (RN) with a license as required by that state law.
• CPR certified.
• Current First aid certification and experience in first aid and emergency management.
• Driver’s license.
• Experience in both children and adult illness/injury care.
• Desire to work with children and young adults.
• Community health knowledge.

Assistant Director

Note: This position requires a two-year seasonal summer commitment, as the person will become the Camp Director in the second year

Purpose: To further the mission of the camp through the planning and delivery of program activities and events. Design and deliver program activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ ages and abilities. Assist in the management of the overall camp operation at the direction of the camp director.

Responsibilities:
• Plan and eliver a fun program to campers.
• Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures during camp programs.
• Help the director team coordinate overnight experiences and supplies.
• Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in all program areas.
• Supervise and evaluate Program Specialists to develop and implement all facets of camp program activities.
• Develop and implement schedules and records for all areas of camp program and facilities.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Experience in administrative roles at similar camp.
• Experience in the development and delivery of programs and activities for similar population.
• Current instructional certification in program or related experience.
• Must be certified (or become certified) in First Aid/CPR.
• Training and experience in teaching program to adults and children.
• Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
