Spring Programming

Join us for the first-ever Camp Gallagher spring season. We will be working together to deliver custom programs to local and regional schools, giving more kids the life-transforming benefits of outdoor learning. Program priorities include adventure-learning, team-building, outdoor education, and play.

Pay and Benefits

  • Daily pay of $115 a day

  • Optional professional development workshops on concepts that extend beyond camp, such as resume-building

  • Cost of certifications required for job

  • Forest Ridge School Retreats – May 13-17

  • KPMS & Evergreen Outdoor School – May 21-24 & 28-31

Positions

  • Summary:

    During school programs, the support staff will assist in leading program activities and food preparation.

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday varied schedule between 7:00am to 9:30pm

    Compensation: Starting at $115 a day

    Position Dates: May 13-17, May 20-24, May 28-31

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the daily operations of the camp food and dining service, including:

      • safely preparing, serving, and storing tasty food for all campers, staff, and visitors with attention to nutrition and dietary requirements

      • conducting routine maintenance, sanitation, and upkeep of camp kitchen and equipment

      • coordinating schedules and job tasks with head cook, other kitchen staff, volunteers, and lodge staff

    • In alignment with Camp Gallagher curriculum guides, mission statement, and essential values, help deliver differentiated, transdisciplinary, experiential lessons in ecology, history, stewardship, and literacy to students from diverse backgrounds.

    • Help with maintenance of program areas and equipment.

    • Attend relevant team meetings.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Possess the flexibility, emotional maturity, and communication skills to work and live in a rustic, communal setting

    • Ability to communicate and collaborate with diverse groups of people in alignment with Camp Gallagher’s values of inclusion and belonging

    • Ability to participate in activities that involve rigorous physical activity in an outdoor setting including, but not limited to hiking, boating, camping, and swimming

    • Have or be able to obtain current CPR/AED & First Aid certification

    • Have or be able to obtain current Washington Food Worker’s card

    • Commitment to support Camp Gallagher’s mission

    During school programs, the OS Instructor & waterfront will teach each week in alignment with established curriculum while ensuring culturally responsive instruction to engage all learners.

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday varied schedule between 7:00am to 9:30pm

    Compensation: Starting at $115 a day

    Position Dates: May 13-17, May 20-24, May 28-31

    Responsibilities:

    • In alignment with Camp Gallagher curriculum guides, mission statement, and essential values, plan and deliver differentiated, transdisciplinary, experiential lessons in ecology, history, stewardship, and literacy to students from diverse backgrounds.

    • Create and maintain educational materials for use in the program.

    • Help with maintenance of program areas and equipment.

    • Provide program support beyond instruction, including but not limited to curriculum development, program recruitment, community education, instructional coaching, evening programming, and kitchen rotations.

    • Attend relevant education team meetings

    • Supervise and guard waterfront activities, including swimming and boating.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Commitment to educational equity and training in culturally responsive teaching

    • Ability to create positive, hands-on, and collaborative learning environment

    • Teaching experience in formal or non-formal settings preferred

    • Basic knowledge of and/or desire and demonstrated ability to learn about local floral, fauna, and cultural history

    • Ability to communicate clearly and provide actionable feedback to students

    • CPR/AED & First Aid certification

    • Washington Food Worker’s card

    • Current or ability to obtain lifeguard certification

    • Commitment to support Camp Gallagher’s mission

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree or other documented educational training in environmental education, education, natural sciences, environmental studies, social studies, recreation or related field

    • Experience teaching outdoors

    • Manage and facilitate challenge course activities including low and high ropes sessions.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Commitment to educational equity and training in culturally responsive teaching

    • Ability to create positive, hands-on, and collaborative learning environment

    • Teaching experience in formal or non-formal settings preferred

    • Basic knowledge of and/or desire and demonstrated ability to learn about local floral, fauna, and cultural history

    • Ability to communicate clearly and provide actionable feedback to student

    • CPR/AED & First Aid certification

    • Washington Food Worker’s card

    • Training or ability to obtain training on Camp Gallagher challenge course (one instructor)

    • Commitment to support Camp Gallagher’s mission

INTERNSHIPS

Camp Gallagher is open to working with universities in providing a paid internship for credit in completing programs for recreation, outdoor and environmental education, and related fields.
